Petitions

A petition is a formally drawn up request that can be used to lobby a law-making body such as a local Council. This generally involves a written request accompanied by a list of signatures of people who are supportive of that request. In accordance with Council policy, petitions must contain a minimum of ten signatures.

Members of the community may lodge a petition with Council regarding any matter in which they have an interest.

Petitions must be presented in a written form and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Logan City Council, PO Box 3226, Logan City DC 4114.

You may use a petition form (pdf) to state a request and list signatures.

Hard copies of the form are available from the City Governance Branch, 3rd Floor, Logan City Council Administration Centre, 150 Wembley Rd, Logan Central, or on 3412 5463.

When a petition is received by Council an acknowledgement letter will be sent to the Chief Petitioner, and the petition will be tabled for consideration at the next ordinary meeting of Council.
