Active and Healthy

Active and healthyIn 2026, Logan is a safe and well designed city where residents enjoy an active
and healthy lifestyle.

Keeping Active

Physical inactivity was once a significant issue for people's overall health and well-being. Logan residents now participate in a huge range of programs across the city, encouraging us to stay active and healthy. Regardless of age, gender, or ability, all Logan residents fit exercise into their daily schedules and enjoy far more nutritious diets.

Logan City is a community that truly cares for its people. Life expectancy is now significantly higher and our valued elders are thriving in a city that encourages healthy lifestyle choices and effective preventative medicine.

Living Well

Individuals and the community have adopted healthier lifestyle choices. We have cut back on smoking, eat more fruit and vegetables, are more active and have moderated our alcohol consumption.

Mindsets have changed in our communities and have engendered an attitude of self-responsibility. In the long term, prevention has proven best for our community and our health system.

These positive changes have helped lower disease and obesity rates and have contributed to an improvement in our overall mental health.

A City in Good Shape

Logan City is in much better shape too. Well-planned and integrated regional centres have grown in key
locations, while smaller hubs in between these centres act as village precincts. At the same time, Council has enhanced community open spaces and created better access to sports and recreation facilities. This eco-friendly design is more ‘walkable’, giving residents closer connections to their local transport hub, shopping precinct, market, park, school and workplace.

Our village precincts, shaded by trees and lush with gardens, are designed for open access and safety.

They are a popular meeting place for people of all ages, encouraging human endeavour and activity. Further afield, pedestrian links, crossings and bikeways encourage ‘active transport’ – leading us to conveniently located, secure destinations for shopping, recreational activities and work.

Logan City offers more recreational opportunities closer to home. We are less stressed, healthier and lead more satisfying and fulfilling lives.
