Public Notice - Proposed Logan Planning Scheme 2006; Amendment Instrument 2009 No.1

Integrated Planning Act 1997

Notice is given under the Integrated Planning Act 1997, Schedule 1 that Council at its meeting of 3 June 2008 proposed an amendment to the Logan Planning Scheme 2006.

The purpose and general effect of the proposed planning scheme amendments are to:

  • remove anomalies and provide for enhanced clarification and interpretation;
  • rectify mapping errors;
  • include a new R600-2 sub area to protect the existing large lot and low rise character of the area around Richards Street, Loganlea;
  • amend the boundary between the LC4 and LC5 sub-areas in the Logan Central zone and include commensurate building height controls;
  • remove land from the eastern part of the R600-1 sub-area (Berrinba/Marsden)
  • include enhanced planning provisions for:
    • crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED);
    • water sensitive urban design (WSUD);
    • mixed use development; 
    • the Multi-unit development and dual occupancy code;
    • the House, group dwelling and caretaker's dwelling code;  
    • the Wetland and waterway area code;
    • The Advertising device code;
  • provide more consistent assessment levels for specific uses in the predominant land use sub-areas in the centres locality; and
  • provide higher assessment levels for noxious or hazardous industry
