North Road, Woodridge proposal
Council is aware of long-standing issues of excessive vehicle speed and non-local traffic intrusion on North Road between Smith and Compton Road, Woodridge, through representations from residents and your local Councillor for the area.
Funding is being considered to design and construct a Local Area Traffic Management ('traffic calming') Scheme for this precinct, in consultation with the local community. The aim of this scheme is to better manage average vehicle speeds on this road and promote the increase of safety for through trips, while maintaining reasonable property access and enhancing residential amenity in the area.
Subject to support from a significant majority of respondents, it is proposed to install a range of vehicle speed-restraining measures, along North Road for this precinct, as indicated on the locality plan (pdf). This proposal is intended to represent a complete scheme to complement the existing 60km/h street speed limit that would be implemented in stages, dependant on the feedback received.
