About Cr Ban
Cr Hajnal Ban, 30, had a background in the legal profession before being elected to Beaudesert Shire Council in 2004. Now elected to Logan City Council, her priority is to ensure residents moving from Beaudesert Shire to Logan City, under the local government amalgamation, have a voice on the new Council.
Born in Israel of Hungarian lineage, Cr Ban immigrated to Australia in 1983 with her family. She completed her Bachelor of International Business and Bachelor of Law from Griffith University in 2001, and was admitted to the Roll of Barristers in September that year, working in the areas of family law, criminal law and civil law. Cr Ban said her attention was drawn to the plight of people and her legal experience included pro bono work.
Cr Ban has been a resident of Greenbank/New Beith for nine years, and believes communication between Council and residents is vital. She regularly doorknocks residents to find out their views.
Taking a proactive role with community groups, Cr Ban said it has been a privilege to work with residents on various projects over the past few years. She is looking forward to working with Logan City Council and residents and responding to their needs.
