About Cr Hackwood
Cr Ray Hackwood has been a local representative for the people of the northern Gold Coast region for more than 14 years.
He formerly owned a local civil engineering business employing 52 staff.
In 1991, he was elected to Albert Shire Council and then to the Gold Coast City Council in 1995. Now, following local government amalgamations, he has been elected to the new Logan City Council.
Cr Hackwood has a long history with this region. His civil engineering company was influential in the residential and industrial subdivisions that have seen the area grow and prosper. From 1970 to 1988, his company built estates such as the Marsden industrial estate, Tanah Merah, Loganholme, Meakan Park, areas of Jimboomba and were subcontractors on the Logan Motorway - virtually every suburb in the new Logan.
During his civil engineering days, he donated time and use of his earthmoving machinery to projects such as building school ovals at Calamvale State School and Marsden State School and for earthworks at Dauth Park in Beenleigh. He continues to work closely with community groups in this region.
An ex-national serviceman, he is a member of the Beenleigh Bowls Club, Beenleigh Chamber of Commerce, Beenleigh Sports Club and Beenleigh RSL and patron of the Beenleigh Theatre Group.
Ray has been married to Anne for 47 years. They have three adult children and four grandchildren. Ray and Anne have lived in the region for more than 36 years.
