Individuals and community groups are invited to put forward nominations to recognise local heroes. Nominations for the 2009 Australia Day awards are now open The categories are: Citizen of the Year Award Presented to a person who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.  The person must be 27 years of age or over as at 26 January 2009. Young Citizen of the Year Award Presented to a young person who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.  The person must be under the age of 27 years as at 26 January 2009. Cultural Achievement Award Presented to a person or group who has made a noteworthy contribution to the cultural value of the Logan community or an outstanding achievement in cultural activities. Corporate Citizen Award Presented to a benefactor - individual or company - who has helped the people of Logan with their generosity. Frank Lenz Memorial Award for Volunteer of the Year An award chosen by the Mayoress Committee to recognise an outstanding contribution by a volunteer. Davida Steel Memorial Award for Outstanding Community Organisations Presented to a not-for-profit community group which has made a significant contribution to the community. The Mayor will also present a Mayor's Special Award to one of the nominees chosen from all of the above categories. Conditions of entry: All nominees must be residents of Logan City.
