Local studies

The Local Studies Collection is housed at the Logan West Library at 69 Grand Plaza Drive, Browns Plains.

The collection contains information about Logan City's history and contemporary life and includes photographs, maps, transcripts of oral history recordings and a range of local newspapers dating back to 1878. The collection also includes genealogical resources for east coast Australian states as well as immigration records for Queensland.

Donations of local history photographs and ephemera are always welcome.

Online resources

History Clicks! is a database of historical images of the Logan area.

Logan Educational Resource Kit is provided to assist teachers and students studying the area, and contains photographs, advertisements, newspaper articles and anecdotes, providing an insight into the lives of people in the Logan region, past and present.

Logan: Rich in History Young in Spirit - a Comprehensive History by Robyn Buchanan 1999 contains information on the early history of Logan, including mining, timber, agriculture, early settlement and railways.

Logan Regional History - Mary Howells (pdf) contains historical information about Logan City and neighbouring suburbs.
