Picasso at Logan Art Gallery

Friday, July 11, 2008

If you want to learn more about Picasso and his art collection, then come along to Logan Art Gallery on Saturday 19 July.

Logan Art Gallery will host a special illustrated lecture on 'Picasso and his collection' at 10am on Saturday 19 July.

Presented by Queensland Art Gallery staff, this public program event is held in conjunction with the ‘Picasso & his collection’ exhibition which is currently on display at the Gallery of Modern Art until 14 September.

Visual Arts Program Coordinator, Annette Turner, said the 'Picasso and his collection' lecture at Logan Art Gallery would offer local audiences the chance to learn more about the range of work Picasso collected over his lifetime.

"This includes paintings, drawings, and prints by artists such as Matisse, Renoir, Cézanne, Rousseau, Miró, Modigliani and Braque, as well as an extraordinary selection of Oceanic and African works," she said.

The lecture will be presented by Ellie Buttrose, Queensland Art Gallery’s Curatorial Office Coordinator. Ellie most recently provided research assistance for the ‘Picasso & his collection’ exhibition and the accompanying exhibition catalogue.

Bookings are essential. Please contact Logan Art Gallery on phone 3412 5519 to reserve your seat for this inspirational lecture.

Logan Art Gallery is open 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and is located on the corner of Wembley Road and Jacaranda Avenue, Logan Central.

For photo opportunities and further information please contact Annette Turner, Visual Arts Program Coordinator, Logan Art Gallery, phone 3412 5128.
