Logan City ratepayers will be unable to pay their next rates notice through the Bill Express network at newsagencies, with news the company has had an administrator appointed this week.
Council Governance, Finance and Water Committee Chairperson, Councillor Luke Smith, said Bill Express co-ordinated payments for a variety of companies across Australia through newsagents and other retailers.
Cr Smith said while newsagents could no longer accept across-the-counter rates payments, there were still other convenient ways for payments to be made.
"Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond Council's control, the Bill Express payment service will not be available for the next rates notice which will be issued in the next few weeks," Cr Smith said.
"However, we have many other ways that you can pay your rates. Council offers an online service with payments accepted via credit card or Bpay. You can also pay by phone using credit card or Bpay, or mail your payment directly to Council with a cheque, money order, credit card detail or direct debit request.
"Payments are also accepted at all Australia Post Outlets."
