Council appoints new Deputy CEO

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Silvio TrincaAfter an extensive recruitment process, Logan City Council has appointed a Deputy CEO for its new Infrastructure Services stream.

Mr Silvio Trinca started with Logan City Council this week.

Previously a Deputy CEO at one of Western Australia's largest urban Councils, Mr Trinca comes to Logan with more than 20 years experience in local government engineering and infrastructure.

Mr Trinca is a former State President of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia and in 2007, was awarded the Outstanding Service Award from the Institute.

The position of Deputy CEO - Infrastructure Services was created following a decision to split Council's former City Service Stream into two components - Community and Customer Services and Infrastructure Services.

Logan CEO, Chris Rose, said the decision to split the stream came in the wake of local government reform.

"Logan as a new city faces significant infrastructure and engineering challenges.  These challenges stem primarily from the four-fold increase in the size of Logan and the very significant growth issues the new Logan will be required to manage going forward," he said.

"Having a dedicated Deputy CEO for Infrastructure Services will help the expanded Logan address its immediate and long term infrastructure needs."
