Logan Mayor, Councillor Pam Parker, is wearing her green and gold to support the eight Logan athletes who will compete for Australia at the 2008 Olympic Games starting at Beijing later this week.
"These eight athletes are not only representing Australia but our great City as well," Cr Parker said.
"They and their families have put in many long hours over the years to train for this moment and sacrificed a great deal and I want everyone in Logan to join me in cheering them on in their respective events."
Logan's Olympic contingent includes:
- Damon Kelly (weightlifting) - Meadowbrook
- Bronwyn Thompson (long jump) - Eight Mile Plains (works at Logan Hospital)
- Alicia Coutts (swimming) - Shailer Park
- Jane Waller (archery) - Eagleby
- Samantha Reid (synchronised swimming) - Tanah Merah
- Paul Hanley (tennis) - Loganlea
- Peter McMahon (equestrian) - Waterford
- Kamakazi (Michael Geale) (BMX cycling) - Jimboomba
Daisy Hill Swimmer AnnaLiza Mopio will represent Papua New Guinea at the Olympics.
