Sign of the times for new Logan suburbs

Wednesday, September 09, 2009

Logan's iconic blue and silver welcome signs are now visible in more suburbs.

Bethania, Cedar Vale, Eagleby, Park Ridge and Park Ridge South all had the striking signs installed during August.

Logan Mayor and Chair of Economic Development, Councillor Pam Parker, said the new signs were part of Council's commitment to strengthening community identity in the new Logan City.

"With Logan's boundaries expanding from 29 suburbs to 63 after last year's local government reform, it's important we recognise these new suburbs as being part of Logan to instil a sense of belonging," she said.

Health, Sport and Community Services Committee Chairperson, Councillor Phil Pidgeon (Division 9), said more signs would be installed over the next few weeks.

"The signs are a striking design that has been used throughout Logan to welcome visitors and residents and give a positive first impression of each suburb,'' he said.

The signs were made by Meadowbrook metal works company, Samin Sheet Metal. The company has been based in Logan since 1974.

Logan suburb signs have now been installed at Logan Reserve; Greenbank; Chambers Flat; Cedar Grove; Windaroo; Bethania; Cedar Vale; Eagleby; Park Ridge South and Park Ridge.

Signs will soon be added to the following suburbs: Mt Warren Park; Edens Landing; North MacLean; South MacLean; Munruben; Logan Village; Beenleigh; Jimboomba; Kingston; Logan Central; Shailer Park and Slacks Creek.
