Time to get physical at inSports Health and Fitness Centre

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

If you are one of those people that has pencilled spring as the season to get fit, you are in luck.

inSports Health and Fitness Centre opened the doors to its new-look gymnasium in the grounds of aqualogan Springwood at the start of the month and residents are already jumping at the chance to share in the fun.

Logan City Councillor Lisa Bradley (Division 1) said Council was committed to providing quality facilities for residents to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and encouraged them to consider "kickstarting" their fitness campaign off in style at the Sports Drive complex.

''Council took over the management of the gym on August 1 and spent the month revamping the gym itself and installing a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment,'' she said.

''What we have now is a fantastic facility that caters to a wide range of age groups, fitness abilities and interests - everything to get you in shape for summer or in training for your next competition.''

Cr Bradley said the gym was fitted out with the latest cardio machines, pin-loaded and advanced resistance equipment, free weights and a motorised rock climbing wall.

A series of fitness classes will also be available from September 21. Classes include: Les Mills Body Pump; Les Mills Body Balance; Les Mills RPM; Thump boxing; Pilates; Low impact; and dance classes while personal training programs and boot camps are available on request.

Classes structured to the older age groups will also be available while members can enjoy the benefit of aqua aerobics classes in the aqualogan Springwood indoor pool.

''The beauty of joining inSports Health and Fitness Centre is that membership gives you access not only to this refurbished facility and the newly-opened international-standard Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre, and also the complex at aqualogan Springwood,'' Cr Bradley said.

''Another advantage is that there are no contracts - members pay as they use.

''We have been pleased to see a strong level of support already for the gym and the feedback I am getting from users is extremely positive.''

Gym membership is $60 per month for adults and concession and family rates are available. All staff have appropriate qualifications and are Council employees.

inSports Health and Fitness Centre is open from 5.30am-8pm and weekends from 8am-noon.
