Logan turns 30 this year, and everyone is invited to the party!
Come and celebrate Logan's milestone on Saturday 3 October between 10am and 2pm at Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre, 357 Browns Plains Road, Browns Plains.
And like all birthdays, there promises to be a host of fun and games to get everyone in the party mood.
Entry to the birthday celebrations is free and guests will enjoy a wide variety of entertainment, visits by sporting celebrities, activities and games for the young and young at heart, competitions and food and drink.
Logan Mayor, Councillor Pam Parker, said the birthday party would be a double celebration.
"This year we celebrate 30 years as Logan City and one year since the new Logan was created through local government reform,'' she said.
"The birthday party is a wonderful reason for families and friends to get together celebrate our great city, and check out Logan's newly-opened, world-class $17 million, indoor sporting facility - Logan Metro."
Councillor Lisa Bradley said she was proud of Logan as are many other residents.
"'We have achieved a lot since the first general government election held in Logan in March 1979,'' she said.
"I am very passionate about Logan, the city I live in.
''Everything from the lifestyle it offers, the wonderful location and fantastic facilities we enjoy - these all contribute to what makes this city a great place to be part of.''
Logan's multicultural diversity will be in abundance at the celebrations and guests will be able to sample the taste sensations of Indian, South African, Fijian, Maori and Australian cuisine as well as delight in cultural performances.
The cultural dancing and singing demonstrations from the South African, Polynesian, Indian, Burundi, Uganda, and Cook Islands community will be sure to delight guests.
And what is a birthday without cake? Every guest at the celebrations will be able to share in a slice of the birthday with a giant cake created to mark the special event.
But the fun doesn't stop there. There will be activities for people of all ages including sporting skill tests, rock climbing, mini health and fitness sessions (AKA a boot camp session) with instructors on stage.
Finally, if you haven't had a chance to check out the new Logan Metro indoor sports or meet the 2009-10 BDS Logan Thunder team for and get something autographed - this is your chance!
