Industry invited to participate in $300m Logan Water Alliance

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

There is $300 million worth of opportunities for local water industry contractors and suppliers in Logan.

Logan City Council is calling on local water industry contractors and suppliers to take advantage of the opportunities associated with the $300 million Logan Water Alliance.

An industry briefing will be held on Tuesday 6 October at 2pm at the Beenleigh Events Centre, Corner Crete and Kent Streets, Beenleigh with registration from 1.30pm.

The briefing will provide information on Logan Water Alliance’s expected requirements and procurement processes.

Council formed the Logan Water Alliance in August 2009 to plan, design and construct a range of water and wastewater infrastructure throughout the city over the next three to five years. The Alliance is the most comprehensive water infrastructure delivery programs of its type in Australia.

The Logan Water Alliance comprises Logan Water, and private sector businesses - Tenix Alliance, Cardno and Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Individual projects to be undertaken by Logan Water Alliance may include pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, treatment plants, access roads, electrical and mechanical works and ancillary projects.

City Governance, Finance and Water Chairperson Councillor Luke Smith (Division 6), said Logan Water Alliance offered opportunities for local businesses to get behind an important Council initiative, and to boost the local economy.

“This is one of the largest infrastructure programs Council has ever undertaken, so it’s vital that we get the best local businesses involved,” he said.

“There are many different types of businesses we’re looking for to provide goods and services to the Alliance such as civil construction companies, directional drillers and micro-tunnellers, pipe and pump suppliers, fabricators, and electrical and mechanical consultants.”

To register for the industry briefing, please phone Sue Salisbury on 07 3412 4495 or email susansalisbury@logan.qld.gov.au by 5 October 2009.

Attendance will be limited to registered parties.
