This Sunday's Logan Cares Appeal Concert promises to hit all the right notes with international-standard performers lining up to be part of the charity event.
The concert, to be staged at Logan Entertainment Centre this Sunday from 1-5pm, raises funds for the families affected by the recent Samoan tsunami and Sumatran earthquake.
The impact of the devastating Samoan tsunami has been keenly felt in Logan which is home to one of the largest Samoan communities outside of the small Pacific Island nation. The devastating Indonesian earthquake has also had a powerful impact on the Logan community.
Logan Mayor, Councillor Pam Parker, said she hoped Sunday's event would raise much-needed funds and offer a glimmer of hope for both affected communities.
''Logan City is widely acknowledged as having one of the largest Samoan communities outside of Samoa and the tragedy has had an immediate and dramatic impact throughout the city,'' she said.
''Our hearts go out to the families and friends of those affected by these two heartbreaking tragedies - our prayers and thoughts are with each and every person during this difficult time.
''When bushfire tore through Victoria earlier this year, the Logan community rallied to help those in need and I am again calling on each and every resident to support the concert and in turn, those people whose lives have been changed forever by these devastating natural disasters.''
The four-hour concert promises to showcase a variety of the best performers Logan City has to offer and is being co-ordinated by Council and Logan business, Ellaways Music.
Ellaways Music owner Greg Dodge said the concert would feature 18 performers, including renowned Polynesian/Islander R 'n' B group, Spacifix; Logan beat boxer, Kitch; Indonesian flute player, Efiq; Heilani Polynesian School of Arts, Indonesian jazz fusion group, Ethnotic, Angels of Fire; World Talent Quest winner, Ebony Rose; Samoan reggae band, Paua; and two-piece African group, Jahbutu.
''It is truly an amazing line-up of artists - the highest calibre,'' Mr Dodge said.
''What we are seeing is an international standard of performers all coming together to give their talent and support to two communities who really need our support and assistance.
''Spacifix has just returned from a tour of Europe and the Netherlands and they truly a remarkable outfit - expect the unexpected with this group.
''Kitch has also returned from a tour of Canada and we are really expecting his career to take off - definitely a talent to keep an eye on.''
Tickets to the fundraising concert are $20 each. Free outdoor family entertainment, including cultural displays and performances, jumping castles and food stalls will also be on offer.
Local celebrities are also expected to attend the event.
''For $20 people can come along and enjoy top class entertainment and lend a hand to our neighbours in need - I encourage each and every Logan resident to come along and show they care,'' Mr Dodge said.
