Family tickets available for charity concert

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Families are being encouraged to come along and support Sunday's Logan Cares Appeal Concert at Logan Entertainment Centre.

The event, which raises funds for the families affected by the recent Samoan tsunami and Indonesian earthquake, will be held from 1-5pm.

Logan Mayor, Councillor Pam Parker, said Council and event organiser Greg Dodge, from Ellaways Music, had decided to make family tickets available for $20 to enable more families to come along and enjoy the event.

''The concert promises to be a great event for all involved,'' she said.

''There will be a host of live entertainment and the children will be kept busy with a jumping castle and a range of other activities.''

A variety of food stalls will also be on offer throughout the afternoon.

''This event will raise much-needed funds and offer a glimmer of hope for both affected communities,'' she said.

''The concert promises to be a fantastic event and will showcase the a variety of the best performers Logan City has to offer including including renowned Polynesian/Islander R 'n' B group, Spacifix; Logan beat boxer, Kitch; Indonesian flute player, Efiq; and all-girl band, Angels of Fire.''

Tickets to the fundraising concert are $20 for a family. Free outdoor family entertainment, including cultural displays and performances, jumping castles and food stalls will also be on offer.

Local celebrities are also expected to attend the event.

''For $20 families can come along and enjoy top class entertainment and lend a hand to our neighbours in need - I encourage each and every Logan resident to come along and show they care,'' Mr Dodge said.

''Donations for the affected communities will also be collected throughout the afternoon.''

Tickets are available at the door or through the Logan Entertainment Centre. Phone 3412 4770 or visit www.logan.qld.gov.au.
