Appeal concert to be webcast

Thursday, October 15, 2009

If you can't make it to this Sunday's Logan Cares Appeal Concert, then don't worry you can still catch all the entertainment from the luxury of your own home.

In a first for Logan City Council, this Sunday's appeal concert will be webcast live and on demand at www.alphamediaservices.com/appeal.

Logan Mayor, Councillor Pam Parker said the marketing and events teams were really excited about the decision to webcast the concert.

"This is the first time we have done anything like this, but I think it shows we are moving with the times," she said.

"With so many people from our community back in Samoa supporting their families during what is a terrible time for them, by us webcasting the concert they will have an opportunity to jump online and listen in."

The concert event, which raises funds for the families affected by the recent Samoan tsunami and Indonesian earthquake, will be held at the Logan Entertainment Centre from 1-5pm.

The four-hour concert promises to showcase a variety of the best performers Logan City has to offer and is being co-ordinated by Council and Logan business, Ellaways Music.

Ellaways Music owner Greg Dodge said the concert would feature 18 performers, including renowned Polynesian/Islander R 'n' B group, Spacifix; Logan beat boxer, Kitch; Indonesian flute player, Efiq; Heilani Polynesian School of Arts, Indonesian jazz fusion group, Ethnotic, Angels of Fire; World Talent Quest winner, Ebony Rose; Samoan reggae band, Paua; and two-piece African group, Jahbutu.

Cr Parker, said Council and event organiser Greg Dodge, from Ellaways Music, had decided to make family tickets available for $20 to enable more families to come along and enjoy the event.

Tickets are available at the door or through the Logan Entertainment Centre phone.  Contact the Logan Entertainement Centre on 3412 4770.
