Traffic management

Temporary road closures

Requests for temporary road closures for construction purposes, public gatherings or street parties, can be made by completing an Application for Road Closure (pdf).

Traffic Lights

Requests for new traffic signals or requests for alterations to existing signal phasing or operation, should be made by contacting Logan Techservices on 3412 5415.

To report a fault for traffic signals located on boundary roads between Logan City and Brisbane City, please contact Brisbane City Council on 3403 8888.

To report a fault for all other traffic signals throughout Logan City, please contact the Department of Main Roads' Traffic Signal Faults on 1800 356 664.

Extraordinary traffic permits

A permit is required if Council determines that any extraordinary traffic is to be driven along a road that would cause damage or interference to the road beyond that caused by ordinary traffic.

For example, when a removal house is being transported along a Council road whether it is being moved from or on to a property in Logan or simply passing through the city by road other than a main road, an application for an extraordinary traffic permit is required from Logan Works.

Download an application for extraordinary traffic permit (pdf).

A bond must be lodged with the application so that Council can recover costs should any damage occur to roadside furniture such as signs and traffic signals.

Further enquiries can be made by contacting Logan Techservices on 3412 5415.

Road opening permit

Council has a road opening permit system which requires persons to notify Council and provide security payments prior to undertaking any excavation works in Council's road reserve.

These requirements are outlined in the Logan City Council Road Excavation Works (excluding vehicular access) Policy (pdf). Download an Application for Road Excavation Works (pdf).

As an integral part of the road opening system Council has a Subordinate Local Law No. 11.1 "Interference with Local Government Roads" (2001), which requires permits for:

  • road openings
  • extraordinary traffic
  • driveways.

Unformed roads

Council currently manages 57 km of unformed roads. These dedicated roads are currently unformed and do not allow vehicles to travel on them.

To obtain more information on unformed roads please contact Council's Roads & Drainage Infrastructure Management Branch on 3412 5282.

Speeding

Enquiries in relation to speeding traffic or irresponsible driver behaviour should be referred directly to your local police station.
