LinkingLogan Community Portal

LinkingLogan is a fantastic new web site for Logan City!

It functions as an Internet community portal to provide an interactive information service for the community services and government sectors of Logan.

History

The concept of a community web site for Logan City was first proposed by the Logan Interagency Network (LIN) in 2005 with community consultation revealing the need for a community website to support collaboration across the various sectors operating throughout the city. Working in conjunction with Logan City Council's Community Development Officer, the LIN have been the driving force behind the development of the LinkingLogan Community Portal.

Aim

LinkingLogan aims to provide all facets of the Logan community with a flexible, effective and efficient web space to connect, collaborate and participate across the city.

How can LinkingLogan work for you?

Your organisation can use the LinkingLogan portal to find information and connect to other agencies. Your organisation can also use the web site as a marketing tool by posting and publishing your own information on the site. There are great tools and pages on LinkingLogan, such as the Logan Community Directory, notice board, on-line forum and a research and resources repository. There is also a funding page to find out about grants and funding programs, and a programs and projects page which lists current programs and projects in operation throughout Logan.

LinkingLogan provides a great opportunity for advertisement, networking and information sharing!

Visit www.LinkingLogan.com.au or for more information please contact Logan City Council's Community Development Officer on 3412 5632 or email linkinglogan@logan.qld.gov.au .

Good Sports Program

Good Sports is a national initiative of the Australian Drug Foundation. The program works with community-based sports clubs to promote the responsible management of alcohol in order to:

  • Prevent and reduce alcohol problems
  • Create safer and healthier clubs
  • Increase the viability of sports clubs

The key strategy of the Good Sports Program is an accreditation process consisting of 3 levels of criteria. Our role is to support club committees through this process with the aim of educating volunteers about their legal and social responsibilities when serving and supplying alcohol.

The benefits for clubs joining Good Sports include:

  • The program is free for clubs to participate in.
  • Preventing and minimising alcohol related incidents such as binge drinking, underage drinking and drink driving.
  • Conveying a positive image in the community and to members and visitors.
  • Reducing the risk of litigation.
  • Increasing memberships and attendances.

For further information about Good Sports or to join the program please visit www.goodsports.com.au or contact the Queensland Office on 5581 3331.

Fundraising Institute Australia (FIA) - Free Fundraising Toolkit

It provides advice on the areas such as corporate governance, financial management, fundraising strategies, marketing and benchmarking.

The Toolkit assists nonprofit organisations in compliance to complex legislative requirements in clear and succinct language and will be an invaluable resource for any Queensland nonprofit organisation or individual fundraiser.

The project was inspired by the Queensland Government’s concern to assist the nonprofit sector through the provision of resources encouraging more effective governance of their organisations and management of their activities. The Fundraising Toolkit – Queensland is a collaborative project with input from experts in the Queensland nonprofit sector, working with the assistance of the Queensland Government.

The Toolkit (pdf) is available free of charge online. The Fundraising Toolkit - Queensland can also be purchased as a CD-ROM from FIA. For more information please call FIA's Sydney office on (02) 9411 6644.
