Kimberley Forest Park

Access from Chatswood Road or Chay Street, Shailer Park

Kimberley parkTake a walk inside Kimberley Forest Park and leave the city behind, as you discover the sights and sounds of more than 50 hectares of forest. A vist to the park in the cool hours of the early mornings and evenings will reward you with sightings of swamp and red-necked wallabies grazing on the grassy slopes. The park's rainforest gully provides a cool, moist environment with rock pools fed by permanent springs. Palms, ferns and rainforest trees thrive in the damp conditions.

The permanent water and diverse plant communities attract a variety of birds not usually found in Logan. Rainforest birds such as the noisy pitta and eatern yellow robin help make up the numbers of birds that call this park home. Koalas also live in this wildlife corridor.

A 1.4km track connects the two entrances to the area; a leisurely return walk takes about 1.5 hours. (UBD REF: 243 K9)
