Animal Description An animal may be recorded with a description that differs from the owner's view of how the animal should be described. For example, the breed or colour descriptions may differ. If there is any uncertainty the most accurate way for a pet owner to determine whether an animal is being held by Council is for the owner to visit the Animal Management Centre. Council shall not be liable for any claim, demand, action, loss or damage of any kind arising out of the misdescription of any animal kept at the Animal Management Centre. Logan City Council does not accept any responsibility for matters arising from the use of the information contained on this site. Important Information Dogs and cats are kept at the Animal Management Centre for a minimum period of three working days. Council officers will make every effort to find the owner of the dog or cat and arrange for the owner to collect it. When you collect your pet from the Animal Management Centre you will be required to pay a release fee and additional fees to cover the time your pet has spent in the centre. If you are a resident of Logan City, you will also be required to register your dog if not already registered. Infringement penalties (on-the-spot fines) Penalties for irresponsible management of dogs exist under Council laws. Infringement penalties (on-the-spot fines) range from $150 for unregistered dogs to $375 for wandering dogs, inadequate enclosures, nuisance barking and aggressive dogs. Council does have the option to prosecute irresponsible dog owners through the Magistrates Court where maximum fines upon conviction range from $1,500 to $3,750.
