Livestock

For residents of Logan as existed prior to 15 March 2008

Restrictions apply to the keeping of livestock on properties in Logan City. Specific limits relate to the land area of a premises and to certain animals. These restrictions are contained in Council's Local Law No. 4 (Animal Management) 2002 and prescriptive requirements are contained in Subordinate Local Law No.4.1.

Generally, for cattle and horses, no restrictions apply to land more than 10,000 square metres in area, subject to adequate enclosure of the animals on the property.

Animals such as pigs are prohibited, unless approved under Council's Planning Scheme.

To apply to keep horses and cattle on land less than 10,000 m² please complete the Application for a permit to keep 2 livestock on prescribed premises 2,001m2 to 10,000m2 (pdf). Council prohibits horses, cattle and goats being kept on land less than 2,000 m².
