A pre-lodgement meeting is a service offered by Council where informal discussions take place between an applicant and Council's technical officers in regards to a proposed development based on plans, documents and technical information provided by the applicant.
The detail and accuracy of advice provided by Council officers is dependent on the level of detail provided by the applicant.
The aim of the pre-lodgement meeting is to:
- Identify known issues relevant to the proposed development, site location and Council's strategic objectives for the development of the area.
- To provide timely advice and avoid unnecessary delays in the development assessment process.
Where possible Council officers will suggest alternative and acceptable solutions for the applicant to consider if appropriate to their development requirements.
A pre-lodgement meeting is for discussion and clarification purposes only and not, in any way, intended to pre-empt a final decision in relation to a development application or identify all possible issues.
Prospective applicants need to submit a Pre-Lodgement Meeting Request Form (pdf) and a set of proposal plans at least ten business days prior to the proposed meeting date.

Please ensure you nominate your preferred meeting date and time on the pre-lodgement meeting request form. Council will make every effort to meet your proposed meeting time however this will depend on the availability of the technical officers required to respond to the issues you wish to discuss.
Council will respond to your request form by sending you a letter confirming the date and time of your appointment. Please ensure you are on time for your appointment as Council reserves the right to postpone or cancel your meeting if you are in excess of ten minutes late.
Council allows a maximum of one hour for each pre-lodgement meeting. The secret for having a successful pre-lodgement meeting is to ensure that you have prepared thoroughly for the meeting. Please ensure you have completed the pre-lodgement meeting request form and seek guidance from Council if you are having difficulties filling out the form.
We recommend you look at the relevant planning scheme to research information covering the development site. The planning scheme the property was under before 15 March 2008 (Beaudesert Shire, Gold Coast City or Logan City) still applies until a new planning scheme is adopted by Council.
