Building property searches

Council offers a whole range of building property searches that will provide you with accurate and complete information regarding the buildings and structures on a property.

Building approval report

A Building Approval Report provides details of all building approval records for a property including applications received, approved and cancelled, and plumbing and drainage details. It also details any statutory notices issued for buildings or structures.

This service is available to property owners and prospective vendors before the property is offered for sale.

Any other interested party may use this service only with the written consent of the current property owner.

Application for Pre April 1998 Building Approvals Final Inspections

Building applications approved by the Local Authority, being Logan City Council, pre April 1998. Application for Pre April 1998 Building Approvals Final Inspections (PS4) (pdf).

The specific use of a Class 2-9 Building as detailed in the Building Regulation 2006.

Copy of an existing Certificate of classification.
Copy of an existing Certificate of Classification - where the document number is known.
Statement of Certificate of Classification for Class of a Building. (This applies to approved plans, approved prior to 1 April 1976 for Class2-9 Commercial Use.)

To apply for a copy of Certificate of Classification and Statement of Classification complete the relevant details on the Application for Non-Residential Property Information (PS2) (pdf).

Building complaints

Council provides, as a service, the investigation of alleged illegal buildings or structures and unsafe buildings or structures. To report an alleged illegal building or structure, or an unsafe building or structure, contact Council by sending an email to council@logan.qld.gov.au.

Building plans

Council can provide you with copies of the approved plans for buildings and structures on a property including the plumbing and drainage connections.

This service is available to current property owners.

Any other interested party may avail themselves of this service only with the written consent of the current property owner.

To make application for copies of certified plans please download the appropriate Property Information Search Application Form.

Building property inspection report

A Building Property Inspection Report provides details of all building approval records and approval status of buildings and structures after an inspection of the property, including plumbing and drainage details and swimming pool and pool fence compliance.

This service is available to current property owners and prospective vendors before the property is offered for sale.

Any other interested party may use this service only with the written consent of the current property owner.

Request for Development Information (Form 19)

The Request for Development Information (Form 19) provides a checklist of the critical requirements of Council that are required to be addressed in the planning and construction of buildings / structures on inquired properties.

The checklist of critical requirements include notification of:

  • Sub-areas
  • Vegetation Management Areas
  • Steep slopes
  • An access restriction strip
  • Council infrastructure information
  • Existing/impending Council easements
  • Flood affected areas
  • Special conditions of development
  • Preliminary development approvals
  • The real property description
  • Logan Planning Scheme Zones

Stormwater (building)

Where the construction of a building or structure does not include provision for the containment and direction of stormwater to a legal point of discharge you may report this to Council's Department of Development, Health and Environment for investigation.

To report a stormwater problem from a building or structure, contact Council’s Department of Development, Health and Environment by sending an email to council@logan.qld.gov.au.
