Logan Mayoress Community Service Committee Inc Grant

The Logan Mayoress Community Service Committee Inc grant is for distribution to non-profit registered charities and welfare organisations in Logan City and surrounding areas to provide quality outcomes that benefit residents of Logan City and surrounding areas.

Funding Guidelines

Purpose

The funds have been raised for distribution to non-profit registered charities and welfare organisations in Logan City and surrounding areas, to provide quality outcomes that benefit residents of Logan City and surrounding areas.

Eligible Organisations

To be eligible, organisations must be able to demonstrate that they provide services to residents of Logan City and surrounding areas.

Organisations must be a registered charity with Endorsement as a Deductible Gift Recipient under Subdivision 30-BA of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 and as such must be able to produce a copy of this Endorsement and a copy of their Certificate of Registration as a Charity.

Organisations must have Notification of Endorsement of an Income Tax Exempt Charitable Entity under Subdivision 50-B of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 and as such must be able to produce a copy of the Certificate of Endorsement as an Income Tax Exempt Charitable Entity.

In most cases the organisation applying for funds will be an incorporated body. If it is not incorporated, the organisation will need to be sponsored by an incorporated body. The sponsoring body accepts legal and financial responsibility for the project or activity. The body accepting legal and financial responsibility for the project will be incorporated under one of the following:

  • Registered or sanctioned under The Collections Act 1966;
  • Incorporated under The Associations Incorporation Act 1981;
  • Incorporated with non-profit objectives under The Companies Act, The Companies (Queensland) Code or The Corporations Law;
  • Incorporated under The Cooperative and Other Societies Act 1967;
  • Incorporated under The Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act 1976 (Commonwealth);
  • Incorporated under The Community Services (Aborigines) Act 1984;
  • Incorporated under The Community Services (Torres Strait) Act 1984;
  • An organisation with non-profit objectives incorporated by an Act of Parliament and which is approved by the Treasurer.

Eligible Activities

A wide range of projects, activities, works or services that are carried out by registered charities and welfare groups are eligible for consideration under The Logan Mayoress Community Service Committee Fund.

Exclusions are:

  • Recurrent operating costs such as the wages of permanent staff, telephone, electricity, or other ongoing administrative costs.
  • Debt repayment.
  • Uniforms and equipment that would in the ordinary course of events be purchased by the individual participants or the organisation as a benefit to its members.
  • Food hampers.

Assessment Criteria

(A) To be considered for funding applicants must:

  1. Satisfactorily complete and submit the Application Form by the due date.
  2. Be an eligible organisation.

(B) Applications will then be assessed against other applications by the Committee based on the following criteria:

  1. Quality of outcomes for the residents of Logan City and surrounding areas.
  2. Ability of the organisation to complement The Logan Mayoress Community Service Committee funding with funds from other sources.
  3. Extent to which the benefit to residents of Logan City and surrounding areas is ongoing.
  4. Ability of the organisation to deliver the funded project within the allocated time frame.

Accountability Requirements

It is a requirement of successful organisations to:

  • Forward a receipt to the Logan Mayoress' Community Service Committee Inc by 31 December 2009 for the donation.
  • Send a brief report within three months of the completion of the project outlining whether the project was successful or otherwise. These reports assist our committee to monitor community welfare needs and outcomes.

Note: Failure to conform with the accountability requirements may result in refusal of future applications.

Assessment Process

Applications will be called by public advertisement at the discretion of the Logan Mayoress' Community Service Committee Inc. They will be received and processed by the committee.

Disbursement of Funds

Where an organisation is sponsored, the sponsoring organisation will receive funds on behalf of the sponsored organisation.

All applications must be on the prescribed application form (pdf) and forwarded to:

No later than 5 pm on Friday 6 November 2009. No applications or additional documentation will be accepted after this date.
