Tours, events and workshops

SmartTiP tours

Free bus trip to the SmartTiP - allows students to experience waste, in real life! They can hear, smell and see the environmental problems and solutions associated with waste in Logan.

Eco-Kid's program at parks

An on-park educational program aimed at raising awareness with primary and secondary school's on local and community environmental issues. On-ground activities included bushwalking, spotlighting, water quality monitoring and tree planting.

Logan library tours

Logan Libraries offer schools tours of libraries and resources, and also databases and offer catalogue workshops for students. Storytelling for younger children or storytelling training for early childhood high school students are also available.

Local Government Week

This is an annual awareness week held around May/June throughout Queensland to highlight the program and services local council’s provide their community.

World Environment Day poster competition

Open to primary school students within Logan City. Great prizes on offer and the top 13 entries feature in Council’s annual World Environment Day calendar (which is available free later in the year).

World Health Day

World Health Day is an opportunity to raise awareness and public understanding of the global and locally relevant health consequences of climate change. The science is clear. The earth is warming, the warming is accelerating, and human actions are responsible. If current warming trends remain uncontrolled, humanity will face more injury, disease and death related to natural disasters and heatwaves, higher rates of food borne water borne and vector borne illness, and more premature deaths and disease related to air pollution.

Council Chamber visits

Council welcomes visits from students of groups up to 30 to visit the Council Chambers for a brief history on Logan City, Council and local government. Presentations can be tailored to the needs of the class.

Logan Art Gallery art workshops and floor talks

Free fun workshops and inspirational floor talks for schools that complement the gallery's exhibition program. Practical workshop sessions for schools are offered on a variety of themes and any age or level of ability can be accommodated. Bookings are essential.

Logan Youth Week events and activities

Council supports a number of community driven youth events that are staged during National Youth Week. These events are held after school or on weekends and are an opportunity for young people to interact with their peers, gain new skills and showcase their talents.
