Council is able to assist residents where trees present a hazard or are causing significant property damage.
Action may be taken against property owners who have a tree which is, or may become, a safety risk.
Under Local Law No. 10 Council can serve notice for the removal or lopping of trees to reduce a hazard or to prevent further property damage.
Often Council receives residents' enquiries regarding trees causing a minor nuisance such as from falling leaves. Council has no authority to deal with such issues and recommends that residents discuss the problem with their neighbour or seek advice through the Department of Justice Conflict Resolution Centre.
