Over 25,000 lights are currently installed across the city.
While Energex maintains the lighting, Council ensures all new lighting in parks and public spaces meets Australian standards or above to maximise the level of surveillance and safety after dark.
As adequate lighting can be effective in enhancing the level of safety and perceptions of safety, we will continue the pattern of assessing lighting and where appropriate, increasing lighting in public areas of concern.
