Laboratory services

Logan Water Laboratory Services provides a comprehensive analytical service to test for hazardous substances in natural environments. This involves analysing substances defined by the Environment Protection Agency as priority pollutants in soil, water, sediments, slurries, and solid and liquid wastes.

This analysis is one of a number of environmental management services provided by Logan Water Laboratory Services.

Laboratory analysis

Our modern, fully equipped laboratory provides specialised analysis services in the areas of environment, wastewater and water management.

All testing is conducted in accordance with internationally or nationally recognised test methods (US EPA, APHA, Australian Standards, EPA).

Over the past few years we have increased our commitment to quality management by participating in a variety of schemes ranging from in-house proficiency testing programs to national collaborative studies.

Our laboratory meets the accreditation requirements for the Queensland Government Healthy Waterways program.

The advice we provide on chemical and other related matters has expanded to keep up with the demands and expectations of the community.

Our advice is based not only on outcomes of analytical or investigatory work performed in the laboratory, but also on knowledge gained from experience and external information sources.

Consulting

Our laboratory scientists offer consultation services on environmental sciences including environmental management, auditing to ISO14000 series, and water and wastewater treatment.

This consultation includes research and development, and we offer training through a range of courses.

Investigating environmental incidents

An increasing interest in environmental matters has seen the laboratory develop expertise in issues relating to water, trade waste and effluent.

Our staff have the expertise to plan and conduct investigations into environmental incidents involving toxic chemicals in aquatic environments.

We place considerable emphasis on determining pollution indicators and trace organic compounds.

For further information or technical help on any of the activities above contact the Supervising Chemist at Logan Water Laboratory Services.
