Free fluoride supplements
Logan City Council provides fluoride supplements (tablets/drops) free of charge on the recommendation of your dentist or school dental clinic. Supplements are made available to children 12 years and under.
Application for the supplements can be made by completing the application for free fluoride supplements (pdf 27kb) and returning this to the Customer Service Unit.
Any application must be accompanied by a prescription or recommendation from your local dentist or school dental clinic. The prescription should include the recommended dosage.
When using fluoride supplements the following advice is given for the health and safety of your child:
- Adhere closely to the recommended dosage. Exceeding the dose may lead to dental fluorosis (irreversible brown staining of the teeth).
- Fluoride is a schedule 2 poison and should be kept out of reach of children.
- Use only in areas where the drinking water is not fluoridated.
