Logan City Council granted full membership of the Alliance for Healthy Cities
Logan City Council became Australia's 3rd full member of the Alliance for Healthy Cities on 20 July 2007.
Logan City Council was granted full membership of the Alliance for Healthy Cities in recognition of its continuing commitment to the health of its residents through the development and implementation of the Logan Public Health Plan 2003-2008 with the guidance and leadership of the Logan Public Health Plan Advisory and Implementation Committee.
The framed membership certificate is prominently displayed in the Logan City Council customer service foyer.

Formation of the Australian Chapter of the Alliance for Healthy Cities
Logan City Council, in partnership with other Australian Alliance for Healthy Cities members, co-founded the Australian Chapter of the Alliance for Healthy Cities at the Asia-Pacific Healthy Cities Forum held on the Gold Coast - Australia, at the landmark 'Q1' building, on 27 September 2007.
The Australian Chapter membership 2009, includes:
- Logan City Council (Queensland);
- Gold Coast City Council (Queensland);
- Townsville City Council (Queensland);
- Griffith University (Queensland);
- Healthy Cities Illawarra (New South Wales);
- Healthy Cities Onkaparinga (South Australia);
- Flinders University (South Australia);
- Deakin University (Victoria);
- City of Casey (Victoria); and
- Kiama Municipal Council (New South Wales).
Special representatives at the Healthy Cities forum included:
- Secretariat of the Alliance for Healthy Cities;
- World Health Organisation for the Western Pacific;
- Queensland Government, Minister for State Development, Employment and Industrial Relations;
- Logan City Council's Healthy & City Standards Chair, Councillor Phil Pidgeon;
- Gold Coast City Council, Mayor;
- Townsville City Council, Mayor;
- Alliance for Healthy Cities Committee including, vice Mayor Suzhou, China; and
- Various international health and environment university representatives and professionals from Japan, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, New Zealand and Australia.
World Health Organisation's Awards for Healthy Cities 2008, for Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning
Logan City Council received the award at the 3rd Global Conference of the Alliance for Healthy Cities, in Ichikawa City Japan in October 2008. The award was received for the City of Logan Local Disaster Management Plan, and sub-plans and resources that included:
- Welfare sub-plan and Welfare Committee;
- Health sub-plan; and
- Education material in 10 various languages.

Alliance for Healthy Cities Awards 2008 - Awards for Creative Developments in Healthy Cities for: Eat, Play, Live Well Logan
Logan City Council received the 'Alliance for Healthy Cities Awards 2008 - Awards for Creative Developments in Healthy Cities' for it's 'Eat Play Live Well Logan', a free community healthy eating and physical activity program in community centres and parks.

Heart Foundation Local Government Award 2008 - Eat Play Live Well Logan
Logan City Council received the Heart Foundation Local Government Award 2008 - Queensland State Category winner, for programs that improve heart health in priority groups, for the 'Eat Play Live Well Logan' program, a free community pilot healthy eating and physical activity program in community centres and parks.

Grants and funding
Funding of $50,000 from the Queensland Government's Community Partnership Grant - Eat Well Be Active
The Logan City Council's 'Eat, Play, Live Well Logan' program was successful in obtaining $50,000 funding from the Queensland Government Community Partnership program - Eat Well Be Active to assist in the implementation of the program. The seed funding assisted to initiate the development and implementation of the program and to promote the State Government 'Go for 2 & 5 fruit and vegetable program and 'Find your 30 minutes of activity a day' program.

Funding of $10,000 from the Queensland Government - Community Renewal
The 'Eat, Play, Live Well Logan' program was successful in obtaining $10,000 funding from the Department of Housing - Community Renewal to assist in the implementation of the program. The funding assisted in implementing the program including various physical activity sessions in parks.
Funding of $10,000 from the LGAQ and Queensland Health for Sharps Management - Safe Communities funding
Logan City Council was awarded two $10,000 funding grants from Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and Queensland Health for the Logan Community Sharps Management Plan (CSMP), for the following purposes:
- Assisting the development the Logan Community Sharps Management Plan; and
- Assisting to implement actions within the Logan CSMP, including the purchase of sharps bins and developing educational material.
