Advisory and Implementation Committee

The Logan Public Health Plan Advisory and Implementation Committee is chaired by Councillor Phil Pidgeon and assisted by Council's Environment and Sustainability branch.

The Committee's membership is comprised of all lead partners, the original consultative committee, interested stakeholders, and community representatives. The committee is supported by four themed sub-committees:

  • Public Health and Lifestyle;
  • Effective Health Service Delivery;
  • Community Capacity Building; and
  • Affordable and Appropriate Housing (Logan Interagency Housing Network).

Advisory and Implementation Committee

Committee meetings are held in March, July and November each year.

The role of the committee includes gathering and disseminating feedback regarding the progress of actions and dealing with new issues that may arise.  The role of the committee specifically includes:

  • Steering the 'rolling out' of the plan and monitoring of actions;
  • Encouraging partners to implement 'actions' in the plan;
  • Fostering inter-agency cooperation;
  • Promoting organisational capacity building;
  • Sharing of results with the community;
  • Advocating for community engagement; and
  • Identifying and removing barriers to assist in the implementation of strategies.

Lead Partners

The role of Lead Partners, includes:

  • Determine which actions they will undertake for a particular financial year. These actions will then be able to form part of the particular agencies' operational plans. It is recognised that resourcing constraints may hinder or defer the implementation of the actions;
  • Coordinate and administer actions as identified. This will include organising partner meetings and auspicing grants if appropriate;
  • Communicate with and attend the Advisory and Implementation Committee meetings. It is expected that the lead partners will advise the Advisory and Implementation Committee of their plan (i.e. timetable) for implementing the determined actions and provide regular feedback on progress so that the Committee can inform the community on the progress;
  • Involve stakeholders and existing community groups where possible; and
  • Encourage community ownership.
