Major roads projects for 2009
As part of its ongoing commitment to providing quality roads for motorists, Logan City Council will undertake several major projects during 2009.
Council's major road projects budget in 2008/2009 was a record $8.5 million, an increase of $2.5 million from the previous year. The capital works budget also grew from $27 million to $39 million after the Local Government Reform process.
About a third of this funding will go to rehabilitation works to upgrade and improve existing infrastructure such as road pavements, resurfacing, kerb and channels, and footpaths. This year, Council's Road Infrastructure Management Branch will deliver more than 110 km of road resurfacing work across the city. Council conducts ongoing inspections of roads to identify those needing work, and often looks at major commuter routes.
Council thanks motorists for their patience at roadworks sites, which enables Council staff and contractors to complete work both efficiently and safely and contributes to the ultimate enhancement of the city.
