Voluntary Conservation Agreement

A Voluntary Conservation Agreement (VCA) is a legally binding partnership (ranging from 5 to 20 years in duration) between Council and a landowner.  Council works together with landowners who enter into VCAs to set goals for the enhancement, protection and management of biodiversity on private properties across Logan City.

The benefits you receive for the duration of your agreement include:

  • Bushlandan annual cash grant of up to $1,500;
  • an Environmental Initiatives Charge exemption (appears on your rates notice);
  • free native plants ever year;
  • assistance with land management through information and advice that is specific to your needs (eg. regular newsletters, technical advice, etc.);
  • networking opportunities (eg. social barbeques, workshops, etc. with other CIP members);
  • recognition for your land management and conservation efforts; and
  • enhancement, protection and management of biodiversity by caring for a range of native plants and animals and providing key links to other bushland areas.

Who can enter into a Voluntary Conservation Agreement?

  • individuals, groups and organisations whose property contains native bushland of significant biodiversity value;
  • individuals, groups and organisations whose property compliment neighbouring properties of significant biodiversity value; and
  • landowners willing to integrate land management practices with existing land uses (eg farming, tourism, etc.) so as to enhance, protect and manage significant biodiversity values in Logan City.
