The $9.75 million Beenleigh Town Square project is starting to take shape and now the community is being invited to be part of the process to name the precinct.

Logan City Council Planning and Development Committee Chairperson, Councillor Cherie Dalley (Division 8), said the project was progressing on time and on budget.

"Deciding on a name for the project will be an important step in the transformation of Beenleigh's town centre," Cr Dalley said.

"It is most definitely a space for the community and we want the name to reflect the community's wishes.

"Beenleigh is one of Logan City's primary economic development hubs and we know the community will greatly benefit from such a significant revitalisation."

Councillor Jennie Breene (Division 12) said the town square project, including a café and open-air market space, would contribute significant economic and social benefits to the Beenleigh community when it is completed in September, weather permitting.

"The project will enhance Beenleigh's proud status of being a vibrant community hub, with culture and community activity supporting economic growth and generating new jobs," she said.

People are able to submit their ideas for the project name via the Beenleigh Town Square page on Council's website, with submissions closing on Thursday 19 March.

A final name will be announced later this year, Cr Breene said.

"Council would like to thank all local businesses, motorists and residents for their patience and understanding as this important project is delivered," she said.

"Council officers are regularly on site and are happy to discuss the project with local businesses or residents."
