Council funding program offers assistance to upgrade or build new sporting, community and recreation facilities in Logan

Under the Logan Sport and Recreation Funding Program, not for profit organisations, sporting and recreation clubs are invited to partner with Council to apply for funding through the Queensland Government's Get Playing Places and Spaces grant or the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
To help the application along, Council assists with writing the application and offers to provide a percentage of total funding to the proposed project, if a grant application is successful.
Chair of the Sport and Community Services Committee, Councillor Russell Lutton said the funding program had helped local clubs to fast track substantial developments in Logan over the past two years.
"Over the past two years approximately $2.6 million was distributed among more than 18 successful sporting, recreation and community organisations in Logan.
"All received a combination of Council funding and funding from the State Government's Get in the Game - Get Playing program or funding from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund," he said.
"Sporting infrastructure including building extensions, lighting, fixed irrigation systems and playing field upgrades were all made possible without the need for raffles or other community fundraisers."
This year the Upgrade or New Facility category of the Logan Sport and Recreation Funding Program will again target external funding sources including the Get in the Game - Get Playing Places and Spaces Fund or the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
To be considered a sport, recreation or community organisation will need to submit their Organisation Planning Tool Kit to council and satisfy the criteria published on Council's website at http://www.logan.qld.gov.au/community-support/grants/sport-and-recreation-funding
