Two sections of River Hills Rd, Eagleby, will be reconstructed over the next few months as Logan City Council continues to improve the local road network.

Roads and Water Infrastructure Committee Chairperson, Councillor Don Petersen, said the $1.2 million project was required to ensure the road was maintained to the community's expectations.

"River Hills Rd is quite a busy road, so we need to do some fairly major rehabilitation works from time to time to keep it in good condition," he said.

"We will be rebuilding almost half a kilometre of the road, digging as deep as 60cm in some parts.

"We'll also undertake associated drainage works and rebuild parts of the kerb and channel as required."

Division 12 Councillor, Jennie Breene, said the work would be completed in two sections, starting from 20 January 2016.

"Section 1 will take in 172 River Hills Rd to Melrose Pl, and then section 2 will incorporate 50-68 River Hills Rd, including the intersection at Swallow St," she said.

"All of the required reconstruction works will be completed before the end of June 2016, weather and construction conditions permitting."

With temporary traffic changes to be in place, such as lane closures, reduced speed limits and no on-street parking, drivers are advised to allow extra time to complete their journeys.

Local residents will also be notified before the project starts.

Works will generally be completed between 6.30am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Cr Petersen said Council would make every effort to minimise disruption to the community and access to private properties would be maintained at all times.
