Expressions of Interest called for Loganholme Tourism Precinct

Logan City Council is set to call for Expressions of Interest in its Loganholme Tourism Precinct on 43 hectares of prime riverfront land.
Earmarked by Logan City Council for mixed use tourism, the site features six separate lots and has been identified by Tourism and Events Queensland as an 'untapped resource'.
The EOI will call for tourism generating proposals to develop the Loganholme site.
Located on the Pacific Motorway between Springwood and Beenleigh, at the junction of the busy M1 and Logan Motorway, it is hoped the site will become home to Queensland's latest tourism destination.
In fitting with the City of Logan's vision as a tourism hub, the precinct has been zoned to allow for development as a significant built tourism attraction, with the opportunity to develop overnight accommodation, retail food and beverage outlets, conference and function facilities as well as community infrastructure.
Chair of Governance, Finance and Economic Development Committee Councillor Luke Smith said the site offered developers the opportunity to tap into a ready and waiting tourism market, which drew millions of international tourists to the region through two nearby international airports.
"There has been ongoing and fairly intense interest in the site, both nationally and internationally, even before we announced that the entire site would be placed on the market," he said
"With nearby theme parks drawing more than four million visitors per year, we have a significant local and overseas visitor market eager to welcome new attractions.
"This site is a prime site as it is accessible to more than three million people living in South-East Queensland as a day trip destination. After all, more than 125,000 vehicles pass by the site each day.
"The surrounding community is ready to welcome investment and our Council is actively supporting growth and investment in the precinct with appropriate zoning."
The Expression of Interest process will commence after the formal pre-EOI marketing campaign (28 September to 30 October) and will remain open until 13 March 2016. An evaluation phase will then commence.
