Funding available for community facility maintenance
Published: 21 April 2015
A new funding round has opened for volunteer community organisations in Logan to help with the cost of facility maintenance such as field upkeep, building and outdoor court maintenance.
Designed to assist clubs with routine maintenance essential to smooth operations, the Logan Sport and Recreation Funding Program 2015 will fund tasks such as aeration, line marking, irrigation repairs and top dressing.
Sports and Community Services Committee Chair, Councillor Russell Lutton (Division 2), urged clubs to look at their required maintenance programs and apply for assistance if they met the criteria.
"Logan has fantastic community organisations and to assist with upkeep Council will fund work in a 50-50 partnership, up to the value of $5,000," he said.
"The work done by volunteer community administrators to keep community clubs afloat is phenomenal, and we hope we can help ease the burden by taking some financial pressure off.
"Maintenance and upkeep can sometimes be put off, or not done as often as needed, and this grant program should help ensure it can be carried out in a timely way.
"I would strongly encourage all clubs to get in touch with the sports and recreation officer at Council to see if they have any work that meets the criteria."
Applications are now open and close at noon on Tuesday 19 May 2015.
