"Get Going Clubs" funding goes to Logan

Published: 22 December 2015

Twenty-six Logan sports clubs will share $160,000 in state government funding following the announcement of the latest Get Going – Clubs funding round.

Several clubs including the Tenpin bowling Association, Logan City Kings soccer Club, Logan Tri Club, Springwood Suns Cricket Club, Jimboomba Little Athletics, Jimboomba Cricket Assn. Beenleigh Cricket club and Beenleigh Multisports Association will receive the maximum $7,500 grant for equipment, coaching and mentoring and sports administration and volunteer training.

Welcoming the news that Logan Clubs had been particularly successful in securing the grants Chair of the Logan City Council’s Sport and Community Services Committee, Councillor Russell Lutton said organised sport in Logan was going from strength to strength.

“The latest investment in our clubs is due in no small way to our high participation rates in sport across the city and our administrators, coaches and volunteers who keep our clubs running,“ he said.

“Sports in Logan are in a strong growth phase and Council is determined to help our clubs to grow and prosper by encouraging clubs to apply for state and federal grants– particularly those that develop sports administration and coaching expertise.”

Council will be encouraging clubs that didn’t receive funding in the latest round to apply for Round 5 funding which is expected to open on 1 July 2016.
