Logan SES have deployed two teams to assist in the flood crisis clean-up in Charleville and Roma.

Two teams of Logan State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers have answered the call for help from the State's flood-ravaged west.

Logan Disaster Management Group Chairperson, Mayor Pam Parker said Logan SES had deployed two teams to date to assist in the flood affected areas of Charleville and Roma while another three teams were on standby.

''Our Logan SES Controller was contacted by Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) on Saturday requesting assistance and as a result we deployed our first team of four males on Sunday,'' she said.

''This group will spend five days assisting in the clean up of the devastated area of Charleville as well as help with running the operational side of the clean up,'' she said.

''Nine more members of our Orange Angels, five of them women and four male, travelled by bus to Roma this morning to help in the clean up.

''Among the team that left this morning for Roma was our oldest Logan SES member from Beenleigh.

''Although a grandmother herself this certainly does not stop her from pitching in and helping in times of crisis - what a remarkable woman.''

Mayor Parker said each deployment would spend five days assisting the flood-affected communities.

''I am constantly amazed at the giving nature of these wonderful volunteers,'' she said.

''In times of crisis, whether it be here in Logan or further afield, members of the Logan SES are the first to put up their hand to help.

''Not only have they given their own time to don the gum boots and overalls to clean up these devastated communities, but most of them have taken leave from their work to do so.

''This dedication and willingness to help those in need again shows just how community-minded our residents are - we truly do have a community spirit here in Logan that is second to none.''

Logan SES Controller Jim Ferguson said the EMQ had requested Logan SES arrange for several more teams of volunteers to be available for deployment this week.

''We have five members on standby ready to go tomorrow (Wednesday), 11 more to go on Saturday, and a further nine for next Tuesday,'' he said.

''When I put the call out to our SES members, I was again impressed by their commitment and willingness to help - the number of volunteers I received again far outweighed the number requested. We certainly have a very willing band of volunteers here in Logan.''
