Mayor welcomes funding for Logan/Gateway Extension Motorways upgrade

Logan City Council has welcomed today's State Government announcement that construction will begin soon to improve the Wembley Rd/Logan Motorway interchange as part of Transurban's Logan Enhancement Project.

Mayor Luke Smith said the $512 million enhancement project was one that Council had long advocated for.

"This upgrade will help ease congestion on Wembley Rd, not only for our local residents but for emergency services and the growing logistics industry in the area," he said.

"Logan's prime position between the Logan and Gateway Motorways means we are the perfect location for manufacturing and logistics, so we are well-positioned to benefit from this upgrade."

"I'm also excited that there are opportunities for jobs to be created in our city, closer to home for many of our residents."

The upgrade will also include the Mt Lindesay Hwy/Logan Motorway interchange, new ramps between the Gateway Motorway and Compton Rd, wider lanes along the Gateway Extension Corridor and increased vehicle height clearances.
