New Logan Planning Scheme a step closer
Published: 12 May 2015
Logan's new planning scheme is set to come into effect on Monday 18 May.
After receiving the State Government's tick of approval in late April, the Logan Planning Scheme was formally endorsed by Logan City Council today.
Planning and Development Committee Chairperson, Councillor Cherie Dalley (Division 8) said a few minor administrative tasks needed to occur in the coming days to ensure the planning scheme became law.
"From Monday 18 May, the new Logan Planning Scheme will be available online so people will be able to search their properties and see any overlays or parts of the scheme that are relevant to them," she said.
"A lot of work has happened behind the scenes to streamline the city's three existing planning schemes into one so it is exciting to know we are almost there.
"Not only will this provide a new vision for the City of Logan and deliver greater consistency in regulation, it will also simplify the rules around planning and reduce red tape.
"With the new Logan Planning Scheme, in most parts of the city, people will be able to proceed to construction and get the building certified without applying for a development permit, provided they satisfy the criteria in the new planning scheme."
