Queensland Multicultural Awards finalists highlight Logan's diversity
Published: 18 August 2016
The City of Logan is represented as a finalist in all but one category of the Queensland Multicultural Awards, which will be held at the Logan Entertainment Centre on Saturday 20 August.
For some, it will be a family outing, with Gail Ker, Chief Executive Officer of Access Community Services joining her mother, Noeline Clamp as a finalist.
Gail was nominated for her work championing the causes of refugees, migrants and other individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse communities and is a nominee for the individual service and community award. Her mother, Noeline is a finalist in the outstanding volunteer category.
Sports and Community Services Chairperson Councillor Steve Swenson said it was fitting that the City of Logan was chosen to host the awards given its culturally diverse population and reputation for welcoming people of all nations.
“Our city is well known as a welcoming community where we have exceptional services such as Access Community Services to assist new migrants as they make the transition into Australian society that much easier,” he said.
“It’s fitting that we have so many worthwhile finalists representing our city at the multicultural awards and I wish them all the best – they certainly deserve to be recognised.”
The finalists from Logan listed below were selected from more than 100 nominations, submitted from across Queensland.
