Road improvements set to start in Jimboomba
Published: 4 October 2016
Changed traffic conditions will be in place around Tamborine St in Jimboomba from Monday 17 October to allow for major road improvements.
Roads and Water Infrastructure Committee Chairman, Councillor Phil Pidgeon, said Council will make every effort to minimise disruption while the work is carried out.
“This major upgrade of Tamborine St between Merton and East streets will start on Monday October 17 and is expected to finish in April 2017,” Cr Pidgeon said.
“The work includes resurfacing and strengthening the road, new drainage infrastructure and line marking.
“Some minor on-site works have already started but the major construction activities will generally take place between 6.30am and 4pm Monday to Friday and traffic controllers will be on site each day to help ease any disruptions.
“Motorists will notice a number of changed routes and some bus services, including school runs, will be temporarily changed. “
A one-way traffic system will operate on Tamborine St with signed traffic detours in place for westbound traffic. Vehicles travelling westbound from Mundoolun Rd will be able to:
* access Mount Lindesay Hwy via Edelsten Rd and Camp Cable Rd
* use an alternate route to the highway via Kurrajong Rd and Millstream Rd
* use East St to access Mount Lindesay Hwy via South St but no heavy vehicles.
Cr Pidgeon said Council will make every effort to keep disruptions to a minimum and residents will have access to their properties at all times.
“Council appreciates the patience of residents during this construction period, which will significantly improve the condition of the road surface and make the area safer for all,” he said.
