Tenants wanted: for new premier and local sports grounds and facilities in Logan
Published: 8 October 2015
Tenders will be advertised later this month for the management, operation and maintenance for all or part of the Logan Metro Sports Park, located at 339 -335 Browns Plains Road, Heritage Park, Logan.
The tender is being offered in advance of a significant redevelopment being planned by Logan City Council, to provide one premier rectangular field – suitable for hosting major sporting events and activities – and three rectangular playing fields suitable for local sporting events and training.
Acting Mayor of the City of Logan and Chair of the Sport and Community Services Committee, Cr Russell Lutton, said the tender offered an ideal opportunity for sporting clubs to move into a new facility that would include separate facilities and change rooms for the premier field and three local sporting fields.
"It isn't often that an opportunity comes up for a club or organisation to move into a new sporting precinct that has the supporting infrastructure needed to host major sporting events and local competitions," Cr Lutton said.
"Logan Metro Sports Park will have flood lighting for all fields, access to more than 200 carparks and two club houses with change rooms and facilities.
"This tender process offers an incredible opportunity for a sporting club or clubs to tap the great depth of sporting talent we have here in Logan and establish a presence in the heart of South East Queensland.
"This is really exciting for both Logan clubs and Brisbane based clubs looking to relocate to Logan to build a home in one of the best sporting facilities to be built in the region for quite some time."
Logan City Council is seeking responses from both commercial and community sectors and full tender documentation for the management, operation and maintenance of either the whole or part of the park and facilities is available from www.lgtenderbox.com.au
The tender opens on 20 October and closes 10 November 2015 at 2pm AEST.
It is anticipated that the fields and facilities will be built and ready for use by early 2017.
