Have your say on the Active Logan Strategy
Published: 30 September 2016
As the city expands, Logan City Council is ensuring that it plays a significant role in encouraging residents to be active.
Council has released a draft Active Logan Strategy 2016 - 2028, which outlines planning for the next 12 years, designed to increase participation in sport, recreation and physical activity by identifying current and future infrastructure, programming and partnership opportunities.
Councillor Steve Swenson, Chair of the Sports and Community Services Committee, said community input was vital to making the plan work for residents.
"Over the past 12 months, Council has conducted extensive research into our resident's participation levels in sport, recreation and physical activity," he said.
"Using this research, Council has developed a plan to ensure that we are providing the right sport, recreation and physical activity programs and facilities to meet the ongoing needs of our community.
"Our aim is to ensure that Logan is recognised as an active and healthy community. The draft the Active Logan Strategy 2016 - 2028 will help realise this goal and ensure the community is active every day of the week.
“There are some great projects to encourage increased physical activity including master planning sporting precincts, building sporting facilities and extending programs and partnerships that help activate the cty.”
Cr Swenson said the draft plan was now online at http://lcc-consult.objective.com/portal and all residents were invited to review and provide their input.
Public consultation closes 5pm 21 October 2016.
