Nominate now for Logan’s Australia Day Awards
Published: 2 November 2016
Do you know someone whose selfless contributions have improved your community and the lives of the people who live in it?
Then now is the time to ensure their efforts are recognised by nominating them in the City of Logan’s Australia Day Awards.
City Image Chairperson, Councillor Laurie Smith, said the awards were about making sure local legends were duly recognised for their endeavours and community involvement.
“We hold these awards to remind ourselves that right across the City of Logan, we have ordinary people doing extraordinary things,” he said.
“It might be the person who gets out there at dawn every morning to mow a local club’s field, or someone whose fundraising idea has turned into a full-time charity helping hundreds or even thousands of people.
“We all know someone that quietly goes about their business and doesn’t think twice about doing things that help others, so these awards are for those people.”
Council is seeking nominations from the community in the following categories to acknowledge the achievements of fellow residents:
Citizen of the Year - presented to a person for their endeavours, achievements and community involvement.
Young Citizen of the Year - presented to a young person who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years. (Eligible nominees must be aged under 27 years at 26 January 2017.)
Nominations for the 2017 awards close on Friday 9 December 2016 with the winners to be presented with their awards on Thursday, 26 January 2017 at a special function at the Logan Entertainment Centre.
